I'll start making up a group of musicians grouped together (could be good ones or terrible ones) and the next poster names the band, genre, , describes if they can pull off good music or not, and then makes up another band that will be described by the next poster.

Here I go with the first one:

Michael Akarfeldt (Opeth)
_John Petrucci (Dream Theater)
_James Dio (Rainbow, Black Sabbath)
_Kevin Moore (Early Dream Theater)
_Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)

More like a dream band, but lets start it with a good group of musicians.

Sound quite metallic for my ears. I don't see what else this group could produce than even more metallic DT than DT.

Well here is my band:

Dave Cousins (The Strawbs)
Anthony Phillips (Trespass Genesis)
Annie Haslam (renaissance)
Robert John Godfrey (The Enid)
Greg Lake (KC, ELP)
Graeme Edge  (Moody Blues)

Not so metallic anyway...

Sounds a bit art-rock-ish with strong folk-influences.

Hmmm.... Trent Gardner and Mike Oldfield would fight to decide who gets the role of principal composer.

Oh, this band would kick ass !!:

Robert Plant - Vocals.

Keith Emerson - Keyboard, piano, synthesizers.

Jaco Pastorius - Bass, Fretless Bass.

John Petrucci - Guitar

Chester Thompson - Drums

Alex Acuņa - Percussion

Approve What do you say ?

If Emerson and Petrucci were in the same band, there would be a lot of endless solos. Wink

How about this:

Peter Hammill - Vocals and Piano
Robert Fripp - Guitar and Mellotron
Geddy Lee - Bass
Phil Collins - Drums
