AC DC are a guilty pleasure of mine, though I haven't listened to them in quite a while.  I was into their Bon Scott era as a teenager.  I saw them in concert with Yngwie Malmsteen in the 80's.

It`s a long way to the top if you want to rock n`roll.

Gotta love those pipes, even my dear old dad used to like it when I had this one blasting!

Are there any bands that are more puerile, hormone-driven, and shallow than AC/DC?  They make the same album over and over, and they only sing about sex, drugs, and rock n' roll.  They have to be one of the most unsophisticated bands out there.  I think AC/DC makes the latest Green Day album seem like a lyrical masterpiece by comparison.

Sorry, is this a criticism or praise?

It's for those exact reasons I love AC/DC - completely unpretentious, tongue in cheek, no nonsense entertainment - I mean, Angus Young is what, 45 now? And he still dresses as a schoolboy.

Long may they continue, I say!

Because AC/DC have always had their tongues firmly in their cheeks, but Whitesnake.......

I think it may also be because AC/DC never adopted a hair-metal band look.

I suppose that's fair.  We can't always listen to intelligent music all the time; sometimes we all need some cheap, fun entertainment that doesn't demand too much of us intellectually.
