In 1979 Joni Mitchell on the peak of her creativity toured with Jaco Pastorius (bass) , Pat Metheny (guitar), Lyle Mays (keyboards), Michael Brecker (sax) and Don Alias (drums) the alltime Jazz Rock dreamteam. The DVD comes from a Santa Barbara concert and  Joni Mitchel added film exerpts (East of Eden, Classroom Hell ?) and material she shot for the 'Heijira' release. This added material is a little bit strange IMO, but the concert itself is fantastic. The overall musicianship,(BTW Joni Mitchell is a brillant guitarist herself) the compositions and the interplay are great. It's  especially touching  to see the late Jaco Pastorius who's got a solo section (as has Pat Metheny). A masterpiece of filmed Jazz Rock!

I've got the CD, and it's indeed one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. Joni Mitchell has always been one of my favourite female singers, and I absolutely love her voice and the way she interprets her songs. The musicianship is stellar and the compositions are also fantastic. I have a particular weakness for  "Edith and the Kingpin", where Joni sings superbly and the musical accompaniment adds to the beauty of the song.

Raffaella you should get the DVD you'll love it, the only weak point are Joni's clothes, but you can always switch the coulours off.Wink

BTW 'Edith & the Kingpin' is one of my favourite tracks too and 'Hissing Of the Summer Lawns' my favourite JM record.
