Gerald Finzi and Ralph Vaughan Williams are among my favourite British Composers. Both attracted by English Folk Songs spend a lot of time to collect old Folk Songs and wrote arrangements based on these songs and set poetry to music. While VW is more known for his symphonies his vocal works and BTW his operas are highly interesting. The younger and lesser known Gerald Finzi, who was influenced by Elgar, Parry and Vaughan Williams, with whom he became friends was mainly a composer of songs evern so he composed some beautiful chamber music.
