who's your favorite troll that has lurked in the past.
Metal Man (i think) was a good one, and there was a guy who wrote in a scottish accent.
I hope this isn't offensive. Just for fun.

There was a guy called Wallace (he was the one with the scottish accent I believe). Nobody could understand him .
Also, from the beginning of my presence on this site I remember a b*****d called Belva . He was the trollest of all trolls I think. |

Belva, Flowerchild, Luke, Hopelevre, prog-o-matic, Wallace (and to a lesser extent KE9, since the man was short tempered but no troll) were mostly annoying, agressive and useless!!!
Do they need to be reminded to our (mostly bad in this case) souvenirs?
I think not!!

I remember Belva too: a rather conceited italian musician and jazz lover... his username was pretty appropriate (= beast, in italian).
By the way, I have a vague idea of what a "troll" is: would someone explain the exact meaning of this term in forum language? |

Hi is Bryan.
And Belva wasn't really Italian we believe, but British!

In simple terms, a troll is an unwelcome character that prefers to cause trouble rather than join in the discussions. You can find a less simplistic description HERE - since not all trolls are unwelcome; many can be a benefit, depending on their trolling style. Edited by Certif1ed - May 10 2006 at 10:02 |

I think that's a little unfair to Wallace. I have no idea what he was saying, but I'm sure he was saying something useful... and he was pretty funny too |

The problem with Wallace was that it was all put on. His initial posts were in perfect English. He then bizarrely decided to talk in a language which was mock Scottish.

Wallace was indeed very irritating and often hugely patronising, at least on the posts I saw over my year or so here. He had a typical, elitist perspective that somehow makes out that fans who just have classics by Yes, VDGG, Genesis, ELP etc. who don't have obscure prog albums are inferior to him. This is of course, nonsense. Most of the time, those aforementioned acts were more famous than obscurer ones because they were basically often better in any case...
I recall the whole Flowerchild debacle, whereby very nasty comments were made against a member of the forum on the forum itself plus even in reviews. As I recall, he became a bit unbalanced by the amount of posts about Dream Theater (this was at the height of the 'Octavarium' affair, I think) and went a bit crazy.
What was the deal with Karn Evil 9? I still hear his name whispered in hushed tones() around the forum, but I must have missed what caused the fuss about him...

he posted about 90000 posts about ELP and in every post that didn't mention ELP was invaded by prostelyzing and saying how bad the other bands are. And he had a couple forum names he did this under. not enough people on his side had to make up others.
Something like that anyway, I was a serious noob at the time not just a minor one. Maybe one of the older members know better

I've encountered Wallace on other forums - he "talks" in the same way there. Maybe it's his attempt at individuality. |
