Parts of the title track do have similarities with Shine On You crazy Diamond, at least in structure, but its a fine album in its own tight, and IMHO you should take the time to hear it. I have the double CD remix/master which has an unnecesary "alternative version" of the title track but even so it's well worth seeking out. Tracks like MoonLoop (improv) and "The Moon Touches Your Shoulder" (great song title) are fantastic!!

Let me relate to you a little story. Several years ago I picked up a used copy of this CD - never having heard of Porcupine Tree - only because the cover looked cool and some of the songs were lenghty. OK, I do odd things like that sometime. I listened to the cd, thru headphones, in my darkened apartment by myself. I had a revelation. It turned out to be one of those few occasions where I'm immediately enchanted by a band's music. I've loved their music ever since, and can't wait to see them again in concert. The Sky Moves Sideways is a great place to begin your Porcupine Tree adventure. Be forwarned, however; their latest Darkwing is quite different musically. But I love it just as much if not more.

Great album and while it does sound like PF in places, it's far more spacey than most of WYWH.

Ooh, I like spacey.

Very good album, but i still dont see the conection with WYWH
Other than the structure, I can't say; however, I included it because a bunch of reviewers said that it was extremely similar to WYWH.

Thanks for all of your comments guys; I think I'm going to get it along with Foxtrot and H to He..., even though Birds of Fire received a few more votes in my You Decide thread.

It's similar to WYWH in the style but musically it is very different.  One of PT's best.
BUH!!! It's what the Buffalo say!
