There aren`t many prog bands that I don`t care for and Genesis is one
of them although I occasionally throw the Lamb Lies Down on the
turntable. Don`t force yourself there are plenty of other prog bands
both new and old to discover. You`re lucky to have this web site as a
guide.

What to do?
1. Immerse head in toilet bowl.
2. Flush repeatedly.
3. Try listening to Genesis again. Which do you prefer?

Try with Phil Collins or Mike and the Mechanics...
Or take a PlayStation...
Or stop trying to understand Genesis and hear the bands you like!!

Honestly of all the "major" prog rock bands Genesis took the longest for me to get into. But, now they rank as one of my absolute favorites. They definately took awhile to grow on me, but they eventually did and my patience paid off immensely. 'Foxtrot' is masterpiece among masterpieces IMHO. So, my advice is to not give up on Genesis and perhaps they will grow on you too.

You're among other 6 billion+ people in this world. So you are like most of mankind and we are the exceptions.
Luckily I'm among the exceptions, hehehe

Very simple -- don't listen to them, or buy their music, and stop harping about it!

Well, I have to agree with Peter here.
There's no law that says all prog fans have to listen to Genesis. There's plenty of prog I cant get into.
BUT!! 'Unmelodic!!' mmm, I would say they are probably THE most melodic band in prog.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Zavgorodny - it's 2006! Personally, I adore old Genesis, but it isn't a requirement for liking prog! Esp. if you're young/didn't grow up w/ it. IMO they were exceptional, but it's still 70s prog, and there are so many vital things happening in music presently, you needn't feel the "need" to regress in your inclinations to dig prog.
