For one, Mike, 6DoIT is so vastly more orchestrated and lush than SFAM, that it almost feels more like a Symphonic Prog album than a Prog Metal album. I can't say that for SFAM. |
Yes, in that respect 6DOIT disc 2 seems like an improved version of Scenes. But it is still much more similar to Scenes than to any other DT album ... it appears to me like they went into the studio and said "let's continue what we started with Scenes - just make it another story, more symphonic (read: classical) and more compact".

It is indeed the closest album to Scenes, but that doesn't mean they're similar. Each of their albums is unique as a snowflake.

I don't think these two discs are similar. Scences from a memory doesn't have the same emphasis of melody and orchestration that Six Degrees II does. Six Degrees II is a softer, orchestrated, more melodic endeavour. Scenes has much more virtuosity and a bluesier overtone.

THEY' RE NOT REALLY SIMILAR:![Wink](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)
- "6DOIT" is more symphonic, orchestral, melodic...
- "SCENES" is darker, and maybe more heavy...![](http://www.21softs.com/emoticons/images/rock.gif)
BUT THEY ARE 2 GREAT ALBUMS!!!

Is the German language really that different from the English language? Surely Scenes contains some songs which are darker and maybe even more heavy than 6DOIT disc 2 ... but that doesn't mean that they're not similar.
Similar doesn't equal "Identical"!![](smileys/smiley7.gif)

So there are no similar snowflakes? One might say that all snowflakes are (somewhat) similar, as they all have a six-fold symmetric. Then again one might say that there are no similar snowflakes - they're all unique.
I'm somewhat in the middle.
