Which country will give the most innovative and talented groups in the future, or which zone? The newer groups that impressed me more, are the Scandinavian ones ( Anekdoten, TFK, Anglagärd, Sigur Ròs, Wobbler, Spiral Architect, etc). I would like to hear opinions

I also have my eyes (ears) in the scandinavian...but Anglagard and Anekdoten are not new...at all!!!
but, as I said I do think there is still good prog being done there...also The Mars Volta for me will continue making excellent albums!!! |

Perhaps as the Third World moves toward industrialization and as more democracies start forming around the world (hopefully peacefully), South America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia will produce more prog bands. I would certainly be great to heard world influences in prog music more often.

I think a lot of good prog is coming out of Poland at the moment, Riverside and Satellite are 2 great bands. I have just started listening to Orphaned Land from Israel and they are really good.

I agree with you on the Scandinavian scene, especially Finland (my favourite country, in many aspects, though I have not been there yet). I also think Argentina has and will have much to offer. I agree with Poland being a rising force (in the metal scene it has been quite a force for more than a decade now). France and Spain are too producing excellent groups and I believe will continue to "produce" more quality bands. Canada, of course, is on this list as well. Amazing bands come from there.

You really saw them?? Haaaaa... I remember my friends and I laughed soo hard the first time we saw that NSYNC stuff on TV..early 2000's. We really laughed. I imagine if anywhere it would be the UK- to expect good music from, at least it used to be that way. John Deacon once said that "british music I think is still the best" -Deacon, late 70's. |

Yes, I'm inclined to agree. TV shows`like American Idol will continue to be an endless resource of progressive talent. There is a 'Grand Canyon' in the market for artists who all sound the same, and make sh!t music. Lets hope that canyon can be filled with more big assed, greased up, R'n' B booties for decades to come.. |

For starters, AMAGRAMA released an excellent album called Ciclotimia with their own great sound in the symphonic genre with some Crucis sound alike (even with a crucis cover song). You also have ATEMPO, BAUER, NEXUS, CHANETON, JINETES NEGROS, MADAME CLAUS, OMNIA, TÁNGER and SUPERNOVA. Plus you have two bands reforming after many years releasing new albums, them being CONTRALUZ and ESPIRITU. Look here for the full list: Argentina
