Tie between Squire and Claypool, but I voted for Claypool because he's pretty underrated compared to many other prog bassist.

I think speed is NEVER important. Originality and cleverness are the KEYS!!!!!

CHRIS SQUIRE!!! his is just superb in his own style and lots of guys after him tried to make a copy ;-)

Is this strictly for prog bassists only?  If not, the vote goes to Jaco Pastorius.

Of the list above, I'll choose Victor Wooten, but narrowly over Chris Squire.

And where's Geddy Lee?

completely overrated... I rather listen to McCartney's melodic and tasteful bass lines than some w**ker... no matter how good the w**king....
