Topic: KANSAS: robbie steinhardt out! Posted: March 28 2006 at 06:22 |
this just in on melodicrock.com:
KANSAS PART WAYS WITH VIOLINIST ROBBY:
The following statement is one from Kansas
frontman Steve Walsh:
"Kansas has had some good years and some not
so good years. Projects that should've sold lots, and
some that shouldn't have. But one thing is for sure.
We are deeper than the 3 albums we consistently
draw from. We have gone through a big change
here. And in my mind it has been one of the most
difficult things we've ever had to do. We have parted
ways with our original violinist/singer, Robby. I'd like
to say it was pleasant, and friendly. But I was in such
turmoil at the time, I didn't really know who was my
friend, and who wasn't. I really don't want to publish
the details. I just want everyone to know that this
change-this metamorphosis will make us stronger
and better because we will survive it. We care about
our legacy and our music, our friends, and yes, it's
the way we make a living, and we don't want that to
go away either. So, please come and see us. We're
gonna be f**king great.... Steve Walsh."
not that they interest me that much, but i thought i'd
let you know... so, is david ragsdale coming back?

That's the second time Robbie left the band. I kinda like them better with Robbie than with Ragsdale.

If that's true, that's sad to hear. But whether they get another violinist (like Ragsdale) or take another approach, I'm sure they'll do fine. I still like some of the material that didn't have any violin (Power - In the Spirit of Things), but they've always seemed more special and unique with that in their music.

I saw them with Robbie last October and that was the first time I'd ever caught them in concert. He was the only one moving around on stage so my thinking is that their live show will suffer without him.

Some of the violin playing on Freaks of Nature is amazing, take the solo in Black Fathom 4 or the sweet sound he creates on Hope Once Again, just before the guitar takes over.
I really need to hear some more Kansas!!
I wonder what Vanessa Mae would be like in Kansas? Nice on the eye
