Even though I haven't heard enough of either album to get a good grasp yet (but I've heard each at least 2 or 3 times), I went with Drama.

I went with it probably purely because I love the song "Machine Messiah". It's hard-edged and driving and just very much what I like, and it's a shame more of their output wasn't as hard as that was in future albums, or even within that album itself. It's a great song, and easily in my top 10, or even 5, Yes songs.

Drama simply is more consistent...The ladder has a few weak points.

Drama may not sound like Yes because of the absence of Jon Anderson, but IMO is far superior to The Ladder which is a pretty good album also.

Drama is the easy winner in this horserace, although The Ladder has some stellar moments as well.

Drama has more...drama?
Sorry about that - I do think its much the better of the two, though Ladder has a few moments.

The Ladder is dross,Homeworld asides, which was bloody excellent. Drama despite the absence of the great one on vocals had very good tunes so it is a clear winner.

The Ladder isn't bad, but Drama is much better.

I LIKE LADDER MORE, IT IS CLOSER TO MY HEART AND MAGNIFICATION IS EVEN CLOSER.

IN DRAMA, ALTHOUGH I LIKE IT, I DO MISS SOMETHING/BODY

Drama is great!! I only dislike "Run through the light". The rest of the album is a masterpiece. It also features the best guitarwork from Steve Howe IMO, and it proves that Steve can rock as hard as Trevor Rabin without losing his distinctive style.

The Ladder is not that great, but it is a good album. Only "Homeworld" is at the same level as Drama.

yeah.. Howe really went more 'metallic' in sound of that one didn't he.  Or maybe that's just me...

Yeah, the metallic side of Howe! In fact Dream Theater played a Yes Medley with Steve Howe and the intro was "Machine Messiah".

Easily Drama... The Ladder is a pretty bad album besides the decent Homeworld.

While I think the song Homeworld (The Ladder) is better than anything on Drama, I think Drama is a more consistent album.

On Machine Messiah he had a metal sound to his playing. Other than that
it sounds like his original style. I'm glad Drama is destroying the Ladder
though. There's really no comparison.
