Neural
Mass was formed in Montreal in 1995. The music of Neural Mass can best
be described as hard, incisive, progressive rock with a definite metallic
edge. Gary X Floyd (keyboards) and Sylvain Rodrigue (drums) met at school
when they were 7 years old. At that time they shared the same dream...to
make music.
And they haved worked hard to make this dream a reality.
In
1990, they formed the band Bonehead which enjoyed a certain degree of
succes localy. When they were informed that there were two other Canadian
bands using the name Bonehead, they decided to switch to 'Neural Mass'
in 1995. The name Neural Mass comes from the title of one of the tracks
on Bonehead's only release, a cassette EP entitled 'Sick Titillation'.
After
their first album ''Descent into the lower world, Marcel Babin (guitar)
and Pépé Doré (bass, body odor) left the band for
personal reasons. Gary X and Sylvain then decided to continue Neural
Mass as a duo this time.In 2001 they released their second album ''The
unbreakable aqua-mask
of Europa'' . .
In
2002 they had the good fortune of meeting Spaced Out's guitar player,
Mark Tremblay. He naturally became the 3rd member of the band. They recorded
the album ''Sunshine Hill'' in 2003. These albums were briefly available
through the MP3.COM website and have since been discontinued.
After
a few shows the guys decided to search for a bass playerto make the
band's sound more 'complete'.
Fred Thompson joined Neural Mass in late 2004 and Neural Mass have never
sounded better. Like they say....'good things come to those who wait'.
