the artwork and album covers of an album are very important to me. I often look over my cds and read the booklets and stuff...yep i am sad. My favourites work is by Storm Thorgerson. I have a book by him called mind over matter with like every piece of pink floyd imagery. I also love roger dean and whoever did the dream theater and symphony x work.

anyway here is my list of fave album covers, as always in no particular order

STORM THORGERSON -
pink floyd - wish you were here
pink floyd - atom heart mother
pink floyd - dark side of the moon
the mars volta - deloused in the comatorium
audioslave - audioslave
muse - absolution

and

blur - modern life is rubbish
blur - parklife
dream theater - scenes from a memory
dream theater - awake
dream theater - images and words
symphony x - the odyssey
funeral for a friend - casually dressed and deep in conversation
him - love metal
marilyn manson - mechanical animals
muse - origin of symmetry
pearl jam - yield
radiohead - hail to the thief
super furry animals - radiator
super furry animals - songbook
yes - tormato
yes - tales from topographic oceans
tool - lateralus
the strokes - is this it

cant think of anymore. yikes soz for the long list!

Yeah Reed, The Sentinel is a fantastic cover. I've always liked that.

On the other side of the coin however, we have MANOWAR...

I must remind the right honourable gentleman that a monologue is not a decision.

The first two and last one I like because they seem to contribute to the overall feel of the album. They very nicely represent what the album IS. It sets the mood. Relayer is about war, and is harder-edged. The album cover shows the same. Fragile is a delicate balance of full-band masterpieces and smaller single works. Selling England is a buttery smooth procession of somehow related songs, and one of the songs (I know what I like) is fully based on the cover. I like Thick as a Brick's cover because of the ambitious "newspaper" it created, and it remains one of the most detailed covers to date.
