200 Years After The Last War was one of my favourites.

This is a band I'm interested in trying out, but there seems to be a lack of reviews on PA for them. Which albums would you recommend starting with?

Most of their mid 70's albums are good but none of them really stand out.I guess Time robber and Hall of the Floaters in the Sky would be good starters.Omega 5 is also quite good.Unfortunately on most of their albums there's always a few short comercial top of the pop oriented track that spoils the mood.

Still,if you like euro style sympho prog a la Finch,Focus,Eloy,Modry Efekt,SBB ect...you should dig them.

IMO any of these is a good starting point:

2002 4.00
Excellent addition to any prog music collection
(1 ratings)
Időrabló - Time Robber Studio Album
2002 5.00
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive music
(2 ratings)
Csillagok útján - Skyrover Studio Album
2002 4.67
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive music
(3 ratings)
Gammapolisz / Gammapolis Studio Album

These are recent, remastered, reissues of band's '76 - '79 albums, containing both Hungarian and English versions (due to the lack of space on one CD two songs are missing in English version of "Gammapolis"). It was the most progressive, spacey period in the band's career. My personal favorite is "Skyrover", but "Time Robber" and "Gammapolis" are great too. I prefer Hungarian versions, the language is very nice for singing.

Omega is not the most virtuostic band in the world, but they are good musicians and great masters to create beautiful melodies. What is also important, they have quite unique sound. Most of Omega albums contain great songs and deserve to be listened, but these 3 are best for the start (IMO).

This band is OUTSTANDING!

Avoid albums "Omega 11" and "Omega 12" - new wave sound, almost nothing memorable, for die-hard fans only.
