I decided I'm going to burn a CD  and create my own 'Best Of Steve Hackett'. Most if not all artsists going solo will suffer in the creativity department and Steve Hackett is no exception. I found his solo career to be a bit hit and miss but his albums do have at least one or two classic tracks on them. I am struggling to create a 'Best Of' consisting of about an hours worth of material but you guys may pursuade me otherwise. I don't own every solo release so from the one's I have here's my list....!

Nothing with Genesis can be included but it's OK to include other projects and guesting!!!

  1. SHADOW OF THE HIERPHANT-VOYAGE OF THE ACCOLYTE
  2. PLEASE DON'T TOUCH-PLEASE DON'T TOUCH
  3. EVERYDAY-SPECTRAL MORNINGS
  4. CLOCKS-SPECTRAL MORNINGS
  5. TIGER MOTH-SPECTRAL MORNINGS
  6. THE STEPPES-DEFECTOR
  7. HACKETT TO PIECES-GTR
  8. TRACK 13 [His best solo since Firth of Fith IMO]- NEAL MORSE'S '?'

Ace of Wands
Group Therapy
Mechanical Bride
The Steppes
Shadow of the Hierophant
The Rio Connection
Vampyre with a Healthy Appetite
Tristesse
Dance on a Volcano (Hackett version from "Genesis Revisited")
Fountain of Salmacis (Hackett vesrion from "Genesis Revisited")

I deliberately left out his classical guitar albums. "Till we have Faces" (average rating 2.07) and "Highly Strung" (average rating 2.30) are in my opinion very underrated records, by the way.

I'll suggest to include in your cd "Jane Austen's Door" from the album
Darktown.
