Topic: Rick Wakeman goes back to analogue! Posted: February 04 2006 at 04:32 |
Got this e-mail today:
RICK WAKEMAN: RETRO Rick has turned back the musical hands of time - He's oiled his Mini-Moog pitch bender, ironed out the old Mellotron tapes, renewed the valves in the trusty Hammond organ and dusted down the electric piano to give us all what we've been waiting for since the made the 'Six Wives' debut - An instrumental album recorded on a line up of classic analogue keyboards. Due in February

Un unexpected, but very welcome move, IMO. Sounds good!
Go, Rick, go!

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

Sounds interesting, I read from his site that he was going to do an
album with "old" Mellotrons, moogs, etc. I haven't bought a Wakey album
in a long, long time but I'd go for this one!

Analouge Keys have more of a atmospheric sound compared to midi/digital synths.
