Topic: suggestions of decent cans for prog? Posted: January 29 2006 at 03:03 |
Greetings all - I'm new to the forum. I am in a quandary - I need a decent pair of headphones, can be open or closed, but should be over ear [not buds]. I can spend up to around 150.oo. I've asked in various audio equip. forums, and it seems different cans are suitable to/for different kinds of music, so I thought I would ask some prog heads their opinions, as prog is what I listen to most. And yes, prog has a wide range of sounds, and I like many, but what really floors me is intense & aggressive - such as Crimson's Red or Larks' Tongues'... I will be plugging them directly into the Phones jack of an Onkyo TX-8410 amp/receiver. Sennheiser HS555, 580 & 590 have been recommended, as well as Grados, Allessadro MS1, Beyerdynamic DT770, AKG K 240s ... Any suggestions/comments/thoughts greatly appreciated! let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |
