No I don't think MDB are progressive either, although there's a few bits that sound like they've written them after listening to prog.

yes maybe...
But I think the slight prog influences come from their friends of "Anathema"...they can be found in the archives and can be considered as prog...some may do, others not...

Greenback, since I know you have good taste in metal, I got ahold of some Mercyful Fate (thanks to soulseek). I'll make sure to comment on them once I get the chance to really give them a listen.
I also got ahold of some Ayreon after they came heartily recommended from a friend. I plan to probably do some more downloading shortly.

One of the most technical prog. metal bands ever I'd say.

try CYNIC and TOOL, and then SPIRAL ARCHITECT, and then buy DEATH'S HUMAN. also, any KING DIAMOND would help

I wouldn't say Anathema were progressive either, although leaning further toward it than MDB have done.

stratovorias, iced earht, virgin steele. all sweet power metal bands, expexilly virgin steele! power metel is vcery similar to prog metel, i say their the same thing. virgin steele is one of my favorite bands out side prog , check it out
