Topic: The lamb or Relayer???? Posted: January 18 2006 at 20:31 |
This not a versus kind of stupid poll, it´s serious stuff!
The thing is that Relayer has always been in number 5 in the top 25 symph albums, not only because its better (well, in fact it is) but also because it´s more important for the apretiation of the genre. The lamb was lower ...I want to say in number 6 but I might be wrong.
Well, the thing is that they have changed Relayer fot The lamb...Relayer is now number 6 and The lamb 5...I find this...not good! First of all, Relayer is one very imprtant album in the symphonic genre...its quite unique! While The lamb, is not a bad album...but its not up there with Foxtrot, Selling and Nursery...personally I dont even find it to be a symphonic album...so why does it rank higher than Relayer?
Am I the only one who thinks this way??? Please vote what ever you want, dont let my point of view affect your true opinion...BUT VOTE FOR RELAYER OR YOU SHALL BE DISTROYD!!!

The Lamb is by far the most overrated Genesis album, while Relayer is one of the most underrated Yes albums. I think that says it all!

My take....the list is a popularity contest and any rational discussion
for ranking them, ends with that premise, Anyway feel both
are overrated anyway and neither should be top 10. I chuckle that
3 of the top 5 symphonic albums are Genesis, and ELP has one in the top
15, and 15th at that..... Baahh!!!

Don't destroy me. I like Relayer a lot and... honestly, "The Lamb..." makes me sleep. Sorry, but Genesis has hardly any interest for me since that album until today (well, there are some exceptions, but I feel lazy to give details)

Both are fantastic. Relayer is the most underrated Yes album. They are the 2 masterpieces of 1974 but They are quite different and so a comparison is not realistic. The Lamb is better lyrically emotionally and conceptually. You won't get it all even after many listenings. Relayer as the classic Gates maybe the best epic track in prog. Don't waste time comparing but get both for your collection.

The Lamb... excellence in every track
The second best album from Genesis (I - Selling England...)
Relayer: 'Gates of Delirium' is a masterpiece...5/5 for sure
'Sound Chaser' is a waste of time
'To Be Over' is cute but not essential

"The Lamb.." is one of the masterpieces of Prog rock history.
"Relayer" is a very good album but not the YES's best; "Gates Of Delirium" is a great song but not on the same level of CTTE.
I vote for "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway".

I've known and loved the lamb for at least 15 years, whereas Relayer
is a very recent discovery for me. My vote goes inevitably to the
former, which is imho one of Genesis' best efforts and a masterpiece
of progressive rock.

Both I feel are 5 star masterpieces. I vote Relayer because it's much easier to listen to and more consistent. Relayer just has so much energy and brute force! The songs are so strong and memorable, a real gem. The lamb is a work of genius, but musically preceding Genesis albums are superior.
