It looks as if Musea have released the latest piece of work commisioned by Finnish Prog magazine "Colossus", namely "Odyssey - The Greatest Tale".
This is a 3 CD set featuring 9 pieces of music of approx 25 minutes in
length, each piece forming part of the story of Homer's epic tale "The
Odyssey".
The featured bands are: Aether (Netherlands) Consorzio Acqua Potabile (Italy) Glass Hammer (USA) Minimum Vital (France) Nathan Mahl (Canada) Nexus (Argentina) Simon Says (Sweden) Tempano (Venezuela) XII Alfonso (France) Looks like a terrific line-up. All these bands are featured here on PA, so check them out for yourself. As I mentioned earlier, this release is the latest in a series of works commissioned by "Colossus", a Finnish magazinededicated to Prog Rock (www.colossus.fi) . Each work follows a specific theme, and are comprised of 20+ minute pieces, each by a different artist. These discs provide a good avenue into hearing work by bands you might not normally get round to listening to. I have 2 of the previous releases in my collection - The Spaghetti Epic and The Colossus of Rhodes, both of which are great. Given the calibre of the bands involved, I'm sure that "Odyssey" will be another welcome addition to my collection. As far as I'm aware, this release is presently available diectly from Musea (Europe) and from Greg Walker at Syn-Phonic Music (USA). Does anyone else have other releases in this series, and if so, what do you think of them? |

I´ve actually ordered it few days ago fro Syn-Phonic and expect to get it tomorrow or so. I´ve all the other Colossus projects: Kalevala, The Spaghetti Epic, Colossus Of Rhodes and been eagerly awaiting for this new one, Homer´s Odissey. There´s 2 of my fav bands participating on long tracks, argentinian Nexus and american Glass Hammer. I liked very much all the previous ones and have great expectations for this new one! |

Next week I will receive it, I can hardly wait to make a review about it, Paradise Square from Simon Says is a great album and Nexus is one of my favorite new progrock bands (vintage keyboards!)! You will hear from me soon, Norm Cash. By the way, what's wrong with Glascow Rangers?
