Hello proggers

Can anyone tell me the effects pedal that Mike Rutherford was using to get his fuzz sound on the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway?  Or what can you currently buy that would get a very similar sound? Boss Overdrive?  Sans Amp?  Zoom?  I am playing a fender jazz.

Thanks

Not sure. It might be just plugged straight into an amp. I'd suggest overdrive pedal but you'd have to go to a music store and experiment.

Oh, how I wish I knew...his fuzz sounds SO FREAKING GOOD.
My grip must be flipping
Cos his handshake keeps slipping
My hopes keep on dipping
And his lips keep on smiling all the time

Had to have been a pedal of some sort, back in those days, Mike used a Rickenbacker bass (and the 12-string/Bass Ricky doubleneck) plugged into an Acoustic bass amp. The pedal, a complete mystery to me.
People are puzzled why I don't dig the Stones, well, I listened to the Stones, I tried, and I tried, and I tried, and--I Can't Get No Satisfaction!

Owl, strictly in the spirit of nitpicking, Mike also played a Shergold 12/bass neck guitar. I disagree that a pedal had to be involved. It might just be that it was plugged directly into an amp that was cranked to the point of distorting.

Obviously to recreate this for oneself, I'd guess overdrive or distortion pedals. I might also guess compression might be in there. Keep in mind these are guesses and experimentation would be needed.
