yeah on my old phone i could create melodies, but on my new one i can't and the only ringtones i could find that were "progressive" in nature was Close to the Edge (a VERY short segment) and some "80's" (crappy in my opinion) Yes songs (example: Owner of a Lonely Heart...etc)

Wait, are there cellphones out there that have the ability to use any midi as a ringtone? So I could use the midis of songs my band has written as my ringtone? That would be really cool... if I actually had any use for a cell phone .

I've got the "Firth of Fifth" piano intro as a ringtone. I used to have 21st Century Schizoid Man, but it scared me every time the phone rang.

i USE A DIFFERENT TONE DEPENDING ON who calls. My favourites are:

  • Voodoo chile
  • Smoke on the water
  • The muppets' tune

Try this page, here you can find LOTS of progressive midi files. Then you only have to transfer them to your mobile phone (infrared is the best way):
