I listen to it 3 complete times before i decide if i should continue listen to it or it is just so bloody awfull it wont get any better

But i always listen to them atleast 3 times nomatter how bad they are.

Thats a good rule, I always listen several times but usually you get an idea on first hearing. Good idea to stick it out for at least 3 plays if you can. Took me several listens to get into The Mars Volta, there's so much going on - only other band I've spent so much time listening to was Yes, a long time ago (& very different from TMV!)
