I have to agree with the hype Green Day is getting a lot of praise for essentially making the same album as the previous ones they were condemned for.
Do you think they would be getting similar praise by the press if their cd was "American Genius", instead of American Idiot?
As the late Bill Graham stated, quote, unquote "a lot of these bands were willing the condemn the Vietnam War, but none were willing to go against their peer group and condemn the taking of acid which created just as many casualities". - Syd Barrett was not the only one
Let's see bands like Green Day be willing to go against their peer group and start condeming e.g. Meth, "ice", political correctness etc. It won't make them any better, but at least they will get honest praise from the press
P.S. On Bruce Springsteen's acoustic tour he insisted everyone be seated at 7:30, yet many times showed up a half hour late. The working stiff would usually get fired for showing up that many times late.
How is he representing the working person he claims to represent, when most working people can't afford his concert tickets in the $200 range?
