Well... yeah, but IM were inspirations for DT... You shouldn't compare bands like that... DT has some of IM in their music... the bands were created in different times in different countries... And I love both of them!!!

Argh why are you reading this like if you choose dream theater then iron maiden is an awfull band? NOR IRON MAIDEN OR DREAM THEATER OR GENTLE GIANT IS WEAK they are both marvelous bands...but iron maiden is IMO a stronger overall band than dream theater

if IM is an inspiration for DT it could have been fun comparing those two to see if they had developed the inspiration for something EVEN better...and i do also like both of them

OK lets debate about this, as it is another different topic. Even though I didn't like all of DT's stuff (Awake and Falling...) I certainly think that they are more skilled and create more diverse music than IM. This is not to say I don't think IM is not good - I love them very much, especially Seventh... and 666 and Fear...(you get the short versions I hope).
