Did you know there are like 4 one star rating reviews for "Selling England" in recent weeks?...Some people is trying to see "Dark side" in number one indeed. It´s a shame the album can´t make it with real merits.
Anyway, when "Dark side" is number one, people with other musical inclinations watching "Dark side" as number one in prog., will say: "Is this the best thing in prog?, then I can listen to prog., I thought prog was more complex, more bizarre and more original, this one sounds like classic rock, Us and them is very nice and Money and Time remind me of mainstream rock, fine album indeed. Still, I thought prog would sound stranger than this. ...Is this really prog?, I heard a song called...The barbarian I think,...man ¡¡, that was strange and complex, very original"
Floyd fans will win a lot of satisfaction, Progressive rock will lose class.

If CTTE loses it's #1 spot, there is something seriously wrong with the whole balance of the universe.

Yeah, there's something dark going on alright. The recent bombardment of 1 star reviews for SEBTP is obviously a ploy to doom that great album and raise the rating for DSOTM.
Though I respect Pink Floyd, I can't stand the dark, dismal aspect to their music, especially compared to the peaceful and positive music of Genesis. I've never listened to the Floyds and felt any better about anything.
I agree with Eduardosse. If DSOTM gets the highest rating, and is somehow thought to best represent prog. (with is utter ridiculousness), than new folks to prog. giving that a try with get a distorted idea of what prog. is about.
Want gloominess? The writing's on "The Wall".

I have not been wrong when I think Pink Floyd is like that classic Soccer, Football, Basketball, Baseball team most people hate for a pretentious aproach. Sometimes even cheating.
That thing they have done to "Selling England" should make Floyd fans feel ashamed. Also, look at the reviews for "Dark side". Not only have they increased in a fast and peculiar rythm in very recent days, but also, every review is a 5 star review.

It happens. I prefer CTTE, but this is what happens. Are you aware that Gnosis (the largest database of progressive rock ratings) currently has John Coltrane's 1961 "Live at the Villlage Vanguard" box set as the highest rated prog album? . When you allow non-prog (Dark Side, Coltrane) onto a prog rating site, you do run the risk that they will outperform the prog.

I like Pink Floyd very much, it's the first progressive rock group I've listened. The Dark Side Of The Moon is one of my favourites albums, but IMO it should not be number one among more representative and musically qualified albums like Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, Godbluff, Still Life, Thick As A Brick, Red, The Court Of The Crimson King, The Lamb, Close To The Edge, Relayer, even Keystudio. The Dark Side Of The Moon should be in top ten or twenty with Wish You Were Here and Animals, but not number one.

If that plot thing is really true, then that would be very immature .

Actually, the Gnosis ratings have recently changed; Darwin is now No. 1 and the Coltrane set is No. 3. For the record, CTTE is rated at #9 and Dark Side is tied with a number of albums for #577. I guess this forum thinks a lot more of Dark Side than Gonsis.

Moreso than endless polls on whether Fripp's volume knob is better than Palmer's left drumstick?

I know. Notorious example. That doesn't alter the fact that this one star - rating business is unworthy of our very good PA site / forum .

I went to the site but saw no info on highest rated prog? Where did you see that info?

Go to the site and click on "search/browse the database."
Then click on "View top rated albums."
Then click on "do the search" without filling in any fields. The blank space above "2005" in the year box means "all years." The albums will then be listed in descending order based on their modified average. The albums' ranks are not enumerated, but they are listed in blocks of five, 100 per page.

Noooo
It's such a weak album compared to CTTE, Foxtrot, SEBTP, WYWH, and a hundred others
3* IMO. But it's there because the majority of reviewers think it should be there, so I don't mind.
