Try Traffic's John Barleycorn Must Die and The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Very eclectic. Everything from prog to jazz-fusion to rock to trad-folk.

If BTB was removed then Brain Salad Surgery would qualify imo.

The first album I though of was Second Hand's Death May Be Your Santa Claus from 1971. It's got these kind whacked Arthur Brown/Beefheart/Zappa songs, organheavy trippy psych, while the B-side is one long suite or a "prog mass" - that can't seem to decide whether it's a black mass or a heavenly one. Fantastic stuff imo and hugely entertaining, but I think it's a kind of polarizing album.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
