Yes. I admire their ambition but find their musical diversity unsatisfying and frustrating.

I know some of their albums and like them. Found out about them on PA, so others here were at them earlier. Good band. Wouldn't call myself a fan though.

Count me in.  I've been acquiring Secret Chief's 3 albums/DVDs since the Second Grand Constitution and Bylaws.  For me, SC3 radiates a mysterious glow.  When I listen to SC3, I feel like an archeologist breaking into an ancient burial chamber.

Love them, and been a fan since I discovered them with Book of Horizons in 2004. I've seen them live once, and they were beyond amazing.

But I'm not among the crazy fanbase I know they got.

Big fan, have 6 of their albums and have seen them live 3 times. Love the kletzmer metal avant combination. Check out their dvd Live at the Great American Music Hall, really captures the band at their best.

It's not a band I listen to regularly now but it is an excellent band with plenty of music that I love.

Every once in a while i listen to the excellent track Ship of Fools (Stone of Exile). Such a joy to tap along with the somewhat complex time signature.

Nice to know that there are still a few out there listening to SC3.  They are my favorite group, and along with Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Estradasphere and the like, I find them to be of the highest caliber of sonic virtuosity.  If anyone has any recommendations along those lines, I'm all ears.

As far as i'm concerned, one of THEEE best bands ever to have existed. Most of their music goes over the heads of many. You have to have mastered many styles of music to really "get" their music. I've seen them live too and they are just as incredible in a live setting. Top 10 act of all time for me ;)

As far as recs go, there are many bands that tried to copy their style: Estradasphere, Prypisme etc but none are as satisfying as SC3. The only exception is Mr Bungle of course! But SC3 is quite a different beast.

Outside of the obviously related stuff mentioned, I've found the most comparable stuff outside the progsphere...

I think you need to check out things like I bet Secret Chiefs 3 are familiar with themselves (this one eventually takes off. This compilation Guitar El Chark is a great introduction to his music):

Adam Rudolph's Moving Pictures project (I only know this and Skyway) + his Hassan Hakmoun collaboration Gift of the Gnawa

Rabih Abou-Khalil in the early 1990's:

Rafic Hobeika is perhaps the best hard hitting and rhythmically complex (+ awesome) Belly Dance music I've found:

Secret Chiefs 3 covered this on "Second Grand Constitution And Bylaws: Hurqaly". The whole album + Sa-Re-Ga Machan) is excellent:
