Innercity is one of the many pseudonyms of Belgian post-industrial electronic musician Hans Dens, based in Antwerp. While Innercity is primarily Dens' solo project, he collaborated with Sylvester Anfang II member and Sloow Tapes founder Bart De Paepe from 2013 to 2020, and Innercity briefly became a full-fledged band by the end of the decade, with Dens and De Paepe joined by Brein Kerkhof's Eva Tourné, Ignace De Bruyn and United Bible Studies' David Colohan. Described by Aguirre Records as "a twisted, more fractured take on groups like Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never," Innercity's hazy krautrock, house music and new age-inspired drone is as alien as the rubber mask Dens dons for his live performances, and is also stylistically comparable to Astral Social Club, Yoga, Bee Mask, Black to Comm and James Ferraro.
Appearing on the scene in 2010, Dens has steadily built an impressive discography, consisting of over fifty releases as of this writing, issued on limited edition CDR, cassette and vinyl runs across labels such as Ikuisuus, SicSic, Amnesia Agency, Aguirre and Dens' own Why So Serious. "In Fetal Aura" (2010) "Future Life" (2010) "Backworld" (2011) "Terrestreality" (2011) "The Flooding of Sollipcity" (2011) "Ababababababas (Blue Lion Child)" (2015) |
