Steve Winwood's Talking Back to the Night has ALWAYS lived in the shadow of its predecessor, which is really a shame because it's a fabulous album in its own right. There's less guitar and Hammond organ than on Arc of a Diver, yet there's also an autumnal feel to lyrics that wasn't present on that album. "Valerie" and "Still in the Game" received some airplay, but neither one could have been described as a "hit". The title track appeared in a beer commercial, and "There's a River" was originally released as a Christmas song, even though the lyrics never mention anything traditionally Christmas-y. "Help Me Angel" SHOULD have been a huge hit, and "It Was Happiness" is one of the best things he's ever done.
