I don't really think so Snowie.Excellent shred music though.

Too bad about Jason Becker though.But after being diagnosed with ALS the doctors told him he would only live about 5 years,but that was more than 10 years ago.

Well thanks for your answers (especially Goose!).........but I was listening to Speed Metal Symphony, and it was as prog Metal to me as other stuff I've heard here.

I have "Go Off!". It's as good as Shred metal can get, but prog? no...

The question could be rephrased to "Is guitar shred prog"? Being a shred fan, I wouldn't mind putting all the shred artists in the archives, but it's not a sane thing. SOME shred albums are prog or at least prog related IMO, but not that one.

No. It's just my opinion, but 99% of all bands that fall into the neoclassical/power/symphonic metal genre are the opposite of progressive.
