Malconfort for Experimental/Post-Metal

   Appearing suddenly in 2023, Malconfort are a British experimental black metal trio from London, formed in 2018. Operating under pseudonyms, the lineup consists of guitarist/synthesist Fas (of black metal bands Sea Mosquito and Amaltheia), vocalist Nuun (also of Sea Mosquito) and drummer/vocalist Kopczak. Despite being named after a Deathspell Omega song, Malconfort's sound leans closer to the rock-straddling angularity of Virus, the hypnotism of Oranssi Pazuzu and the moody jazz-inflected grooves of Mamaleek.
The band signed to Transcending Obscurity Records in early 2024, releasing their debut LP, Humanism, a few months later.
