I have a clear No1 in Big Big Train - Beneath The Masts (predictable as I am always lol) but after that it's really tough to name anything else. I love a lot of the albums released this year but picking the 'best' tracks is hard!

Hi,

Ohhh boy ... now I have to go listen to stuff! Thx Mike

I did hear that long cut by Big Big Train, and it is definitely very nice.

And that cover of the massive Funkadelic piece (Maggot Brain) ... is really far out ... a very special piece of music for a very long time though I'm not sure that many "prog" folks have heard Funkadelic much ... we should ask Paul ... "Paul, What's a funkadelic?" And Bootsie was probably one of the original super prog bass players!

That Kopilott album is really good, btw. Simple, pretty ... and really special.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

In 2024 I've listened to about 220-230 "new" albums. New as in previously unheard by me. About 40 of those were actually 2024-releases. But I think only the new King Gizzard, Chelsea Wolfe, The Smile and Elephant9-albums are from bands or artists represented in PA (I personally consider some of my favorites; WILLOW, Beth Gibbons and Dina Ögon - to be rather progressive though). So as this is posted in the Progressive Music-lounge, I don't have a list. I love the brand new Geordie Greep song as well, btw.

-Just out of curiosity (and as I was unfamiliar with all of the nine first entries), I started on top listening through Mirakaze's list of PA-favorites. So far I only heard 1, 2, 4 and listening to no. 5 as I'm posting this*. I found them all solid and relatively interesting. I loved the Canterburian Houselfly Leg. It's the type of musical approach I'm predisposed to enjoy the most out of these, and his album is the one I know I will check out.

*I skipped the 3rd entry for now, as it was an archival release.
