Hi,

The only suggestion I have, and your lists are amazing, is that I would separate the singles from the albums. The singles make it look like they released more, but in many ways the "singles" are what helped each album make it to our turntables. I didn't buy the album because of White Rabbit, which is a clever song, but I'm not sure that folks have delved into the lyrics ... I am not sure I like it ... but there was, in each album, some far out and different stuff.

The sad thing, for me, is how Jack Cassidy's bass was downplayed in all the albums ... because in concert he was THE band ... you could not miss him or the bass. Even in the live albums, it is downplayed, and every time I hear their live stuff, I am not sure I ever heard the turkey make a "mistake", which Kantner, Balin often were caught, and Grace sometimes was on her own, though she knew how to adjust to say with it.

A rare photo of the legendary rock & roll white house at 2400 Fulton Street with its classic portico columns ("the Graceland of San Francisco"), which Jefferson Airplane bought for $70,000 in 1968 and then promptly proceeded to paint the house gold and black! It's the house where Grace Slick almost shot David Crosby when she mistook him for an intruder and where Grace reportedly slept with every member of the band apart from Marty Balin, who kept his bedroom door firmly locked at all times. The 17-bedroom house on Fulton Street is also legendary for having had almost as many drugs pass through its doors as Boots the Chemists. Tongue

Hi,

I kinda look at this, nowadays, very much as the same thing as the communes that several bands in Germany had. The idea was to live together, and work together and any other idea that came along.

Nowadays we only live with our puffers, sun glasses and maybe a doggie! In this day and age of 2024, the idea of a commune is something that Americans do not believe in, as their individuality turns to some form of .... I guess we need more Mr. T's.

I also find it strange, this idea of sex .... so what? It's one of the things that made the time worthwhile, like it did for many of us in our younger days!

Have loved the Airplane since I was a wee lad, but the fact that JA is included in the Archives but the Grateful Dead aren't is a real head scratcher.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Hi,

I second that idea and comment. Considering how many folks copied the extended stuff from TGD, it is rather strange that the PA folks have not extended it to see the history.

It's OK, TGD does not need PA for anything ... they have made their story completely apart from the record companies, and allowed folks to record their shows off their sound board, and kept a lot of people very happy ... not to mention they had the best sound system that nobody inside a progressive/prog show will EVER hear ... PF's quadraphonic sound was close, but it was too hissy, though it helped make sure that people heard the little voices and details in DSOTM that the American LP had made sure to hide with its copy of some master found in a trash bin.
