Sonic Youth?

   The punk thread reminded me once more of Sonic Youth. Over the years I have listened to some of their stuff and I liked or even loved pretty much all of it, but for some stupid reason (too much music in the world and too little time) I never properly explored their discography. I have one album, Experimental Jet Set, Thrash, and No Stars, which is good, but according to rym in quite some distance from their best material.
Any opinions and recommendations where to start, or where they are at their best? Or their most experimental (which may or may not be their best of course)?

	I have a few of their albums, but this is probably my favourite. Also, Daydream Nation, Sister, and EVOL are very good.

	I only know their discography up to the midnineties. My favorites are pretty much the obvious ones: Daydream Nation, Goo, Dirty and Sister. A die hard fan would probably include the later Murray Street - which I've only heard once while being played at a "party" of sorts. It sounded good, maybe even great but I forgot about it until now.

	Not a band that I really follow or have explored to the core, so I'm not an expert either, and it was only later (in the 2000s) that I began to listen to their work a bit. I quite like Daydream Nation and Sister, but if you want it more experimental I can recommend you the SYR series. Haven't heard them all, but I like the first four: SYR1: Anagrama, SYR2: Slaapkamers met sl*g.oom, SYR3: Invito al Ĉielo (with Jim O'Rourke; I put a track up in the latest IA-poll) and SYR4: Goodbye 20th Century... Had the pleasure to see them live once, in 2008, on a Mediterranean beach (during a festival that also featured dEUS, a.o.). It was great!
