I made two polls earlier with tracks included in PA from 1965 to 2023 with one representative per five year period and I made three polls for tracks not in PA for every five year period from 1960 until 2023 (1960-1964, 1965, 1969 ... 2020-2023)

Multiple votes allowed, please vote for up to three (or more if such limitations are too restrictive for you). And please vote no more than once per album. Additionally, feel free to vote even if you have very limited knowledge. Comments on the selections are appreciated even if not on the positive side, and feel free to mention your own favourites off any of the albums, and I hope some will come up with their own lists and polls. I like to check out what others like.

For this I went for some more popular songs, and it was all going to be songs, but I went for one instrumental with the energetic "Super Zodiac" as I love it.

The Animals "The House of the Rising Sun" (The Animals, 1964)
Leonard Cohen "Suzanne" (Songs of Leonard Cohen, 1967)
Cat Stevens "Trouble" (Mona Bone Jakon, 1970)
Bauhaus "Bela Lugosi's Dead" (Bela Lugosi's Dead / Boys, 1979)
The Chameleons "Second Skin" (Script of the Bridge, 1983)
The Cure "Pictures of You" (Disintegration, 1989)
Cocteau Twins "I Wear Your Ring" (Heaven or Las Vegas, 1990)
Stereolab "Cybele's Reverie" (Emperor Tomato Ketchup, 1996)
Electrelane "Oh Sombra!" (The Power Out, 2004)
Sufjan Stevens "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us!" (Illinois, 2005)
Matt Berry "Solstice" (Kill the Wolf, 2013)
The Comet Is Coming "Super Zodiac" (Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery, 2019)
Beach House "Modern Love Stories" (Once Twice Melody, 2022)

Here is a playlist if anyone wants to check out the music (the playlists are mostly for me as I like to play music this way quite often).

Cure - Sufjan Stevens - The Comet is Coming

PS: I missed Suzanne... well... tough luck Leonard, vote deserved but not obtained. (I know Greg you will tell me that I can vote four times in such a case but I won't. I just like to see artists suffering because of injustice. Even if they are dead. Tongue)

None of it? The playlist won;t come for it. Sometimes the first (or other videos) video won't work because it's region restricted. And one can click on the Watch on Youtube and that will usually work. While I would not think that an issue with the first video should not break the whole playlist, I changed it in case that is why it does not seem to be working at all.

Oh, I think you fixed it. Thumbs Up

^ Good, same issue as before.

As for me, I will go with:

Beach House's "Modern Love Stories"
The Comet Is Coming's "Super Zodiac"
And I could go for any number, but today I feel goth, so going Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead" I recently watched The Hunger again, a fave of mine, which features a later and shorter version of the song in the move intro

Beach House recently became one of my favourite bands. I had been recommended it from youtube after playing some Weyes Bloosd on it. I saw the "Wishes" videos which is so weird and reminds me of Twin Peaks (Leland Palmer). Bloom, the album it's off, became one of my favourite albums (it's quite varied, as is Beach House music generally). Once Twice Melody, from which "Modern Love Stories" is off, was my second Beach House album to listen to in full, and I really love that too. I also like Depression Cherry, teen Dream, the Become EP from this year.

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, but I'm voting for The Animals as it's the only song I know in the poll.

^ I should have used that music video. Speaking of music videos, that one for Beach House is fanmade and the video is of edited footage from the 1968 film, Candy (such a beautiful girl -- the video is part of the reason why I like the song so much).

If it weren't for your reluctance to not listen to full albums and not to listen to releases in chronological order, I would recommend you check out my curated playlist (a very different approach to your posting style with very numerous playlists of full albums).   "Suzanne" and "Trouble" are such classics, and I would not be surprised if you have heard both before. "Suzanne" was one of the main songs my friends and I would get out the guitars and sing along to at the beach. "Trouble" I got to know due to one of my favourite movies, Harold and Maude, which is a dark comedy from 1971. There's gorgeous and sad, and ultimately not sad, montage scene near the end that uses it. Wonderful film, although I doubt it would be your thing.

I know the song Suzanne, but I wasn't aware it was a Leonard Cohen song until now. I'd always assumed it was a Fairport Convention song and that's the version I've come to know and love. Heart

^ I don;t think I'd heard that cover before. "Reynardine", incidentally, is the first song I think of when it comes to Fairport Convention.

For a more modern take with female vocals on a classic song, here is CHVRCHES cover of Bauhaus' Bela Lugosis' Dead for 2014's Vampire Academy. Hope the cover doesn't make any feel like they'd be better off dead, or at least undead, than have tried listening to it.
