   <t></t><table ="tableborder"="" align="center" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3" style="width: 1322.02px; color: rgb0, 0, 0; font-size: 13px; table-layout: fixed;"><t><tr ="msgablerow"="" style="height: 200px; min-height: 200px;"><td valign="top" ="msglinedevider"=""><div ="msg"="" style="width: 1165.02px;">Kostnatění is a one-man progressive black metal band from the United States, which took shape sometime in the mid-2010s. Along with Glass Shrine and Hornet Murmuration, Kostnatění is one of several solo black metal projects by multi-instrumentalist Dillon Lyons, heavily inspired by Serpent Column, !T.O.O.H.!, Bølzer, the anonymous artists of the defunct Rhinocervs record label and their affiliates Odz Manouk and Tukaaria. Lyons' chaotic and technical style also takes influence from noise rock and Anatolian and North African folk music (with a love of Sun City Girls lurking in the mix). Lyons purposefully eschews occultist and supernatural themes found in much of black metal, preferring instead "a pragmatic and secular expression" of existential dread: "the end of life and the absence of universal justice", reflected in the project's matter-of-fact moniker (Czech for "Ossification").
Kostnatění made its debut in 2018 with the Konec je všude demo before Lyons was seized by a debilitating and isolating obsession with his own death. Lyons channelled the intensity of this crippling period into 2019's debut full-length Hrůza zvítězí, which he co-produced along with Mare Cognitum's Jacob Buczarski, who also composed its drum programming. Believing to have taken his experiments with microtonality and dissonance to their apex, Lyons changed direction with the 2022 EP Oheň hoří tam, kde padl, a trio of adapted Turkish folk songs released via Mystískaos and featuring label affiliate Jack Blackburn as session drummer. Kostnatění signed to Willowtip Records in 2023, subsequently releasing the sophomore album Úpal, Lyons' most complex and fully-realised work to date, which once again featured Buczarski on production with Ripped to Shreds' Andrew Lee on drums.

Along with his contemporaries Caio Lemos and Gabriele Gramaglia, Dillon Lyons forges a unique and innovative vision of black metal in the early 2022s, highly recommended to fans of Serpent Column, Skáphe, Hoplites, Jute Gyte, Oranssi Pazuzu and Volahn.

	The choice to use the Czech language for aesthetic reasons is interesting. I wonder if D.L has some Czech heritage and/or speaks the language... or it's just for shіts and giggles. :P

	^ well honestly, who's going to learn the Czech language if you don't speak it! He probably decided that since he speaks it and it's exotic that it would make a great gimmick. The problem?
