Feels Like Heaven? No, it's just another dreary Life in a Northern Town. |

I can't choose between Once Upon a Time, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, and Songs From the Big Chair: all era-defining albums!
By the way, since when is The Outfield "New Wave"? I will always love this band (in spite of "Your Love"), but they were always far closer to Arena Rock than New Wave. Their second album, Bangin', is borderline Metal.

None of their albums are perfect, but The Outfield could both write and play with the best of the Power Pop/Arena Rock acts that were everywhere from the late-1970s to the early-1990s. Saw them live in 1999 - fabulous show! So sad both John Spinks and Tony Lewis are now no longer with us.

I wanna tell you a story... Once Upon a Time there was a Scottish band who were Alive and Kinking in the mid-1980's, but four years later they came back stronger than ever with an album produced by Trevor Horn. Does It Really Happen that this album can reach the top of the UK Albums Chart? Yes, It Can Happen! |

An obvious 1985 new wave album oversight is the absence of The Armoury Show - Waiting For The Floods the only album released by this post-punk super group. Richard Jobson and Russell Webb from Skids teamed up with John McGeoch and John Doyle from Magazine to release an album that I now rate in my top 5 albums of all time. If you haven't heard it, then I recommend you do so. A killer album. Edited by BarryGlibb - July 12 2023 at 21:59 |
