Icehouse: one of the coolest New Wave bands around. Tongue

Indeed - a superb album. Released over 40 years ago. Where does the time go?

Voted for Berlin. Saw then live in 85 and they were fantastic.

1982 may very well have been the peak for new wave music. I think soon after that you had U2, REM, The Smiths and other early alternative bands coming on the scene. Anyway, from the list I like the Duran Duran and the Flock of Seagulls but I don't know most so I won't vote.

You've inspired to put together a series of Post-Punk polls - starting from 1980 - which'll include U2, REM, The Smiths, and many others who weren't in this poll. Smile

Top Gun (1986) was when Berlin really took off for me. Their previous albums completely flew over my head at the time. Embarrassed

EC's Imperial Bedroom - one of my favorite 80s albums of any genre.  The critics loved it - remember the "Masterpiece?" promotions in the record shops? - but it never really took off in the US.   I remember Beyond Belief getting a quick bit of FM airplay beyond the college stations, but then the big MTV hit Everyday I Write the Book came out and Imperial Bedroom got lost in the shuffle.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

The party's not over for Talk Talk Today, but it would be by the end of the decade. Ouch

Has to be 'The Gift' by the Jam - no other album has quite summed the state of Britain in the space of two sides of a slab of vinyl.

Steve Strange, looking slightly less strange than normal - at least by 1980's New Romantic standards. Smile
