i love the song "i love you", but it is on my anthology album my dad gtave me....is alot of millers early stuff like this? I think the song is EPIC, i want more, any reccomendation!?!! PLEASE!!

Yeah his music may be good, I used to like Jet Airliner, but what in hell are they doing on the Prog' Lounge?

His album, 'Fly Like An Eagle', can at least be considered prog lite. Lots of
good music on that one.

No please, Steve Miller not, he may be considered Southern Rock, Country Rock, White Blues, Rockabilly, etc, but never Prog Rock, there's not a single element of Prog' in his music.
The next thing will be that some lunatic (No offence intended) will try to include them as Prog' related and that would be too much.

No please, Steve Miller not, he may be considered Southern Rock,
Country
Rock, White Blues, Rockabilly, etc, but never Prog Rock, there's not a
single
element of Prog' in his music.
The next thing will be that some lunatic (No offence intended) will try
to
include them as Prog' related and that would be too much.

I agree with you: Steve Miller shouldn't find his way into ProgArchives. As
for 'lunatic,' well maybe just a little. 
That said, don't you think Fly Like An Eagle (the entire album) sports from
prog tendencies? Maybe just a little? I do. Like I said, it's kind of like prog
lite.

At the start of his career: Sailor - psychedelia with a lot of British pop/rock influence - is this the one Paul McCartney plays drums under a non de plume?
Much later in his career after the fame and fortune: Born 2B Blue; very nice easy to digest , laid back, jazz rock with a tint of blue.

talking the Texan Steve Miller, rather than the late, Canterbury Steve
Miller, who worked with a lot of lesser known Canterbury bands, and
folks like Lol Coxhill

No, the one which Paul McCartney is on is called 'Brave New World'- he plays drums on a song called 'My Dark Hour' under the name Paul Ramon. Years later, Miller returned the favour, appearing on Paul's excellent 'Flaming Pie' album on one track.
I have 'Fly Like An Eagle' and agree that it has some prog moments, but I'd just say it was an influence rather than call it flat out prog. I also recently got his 'Best of 1968-73' for a £1 on CD, and it's really enjoyable bluesy, psych tinged rock.

I love the story in Miles Davis' autobiography, when Bill
Graham had Miles' band as the OPENING act for the Steve
Miller Band at the Fillmore. Miles refused to be opening act for
someone he called "that jive-ass no-playin' fool", and showed
up late both nights, took the stage afterwards and blew Miller
away. I would have to second Miles, and blame Miller along
with the Eagles for the dreadful MOR sound that lulled
everybody to sleep in the latter half of the Seventies, and put an
end to the creative musical decade that had preceded them.

I liked Steve up until The Joker album which I think is his best. But Prog? You've got to be kidding! King Crimson in the BluesArchives.com anybody?

Actually Steve Miller Band was formed in San Francisco and should not be considered Southern Rock. But both Miller and Boz Scaggs were Chicago natives if memory serves me well>
Their first four late-60's albums are classic psych-west coast rock with a British Twist (Glyns John was producing) , than they sank into oblivion in the early 70's , before coming back with Joker and Jet Airliner etc..... Neat pop with progressive overtones but should not be included

Actually Sean, I think Steve is from Texas. But still not Southern Rock though.
