...How has your music taste devloped over the years if you care to remember?

1.Period-Pop and movie soundtracks

Well then i listened to generally popular music...dance and techno and stuff like that in the early 90's but devloped early a interest for movie music and a bit of rock. Infact my first album was a album with movie soundtrack.

2.Period-Classic rock

Found napster and downloaded alot of classic rock songs from groups like ZZ-Top,ac/dc,rolling stones, black sabbath, lynyrd skynyrd, deep purple and such...was pretty much bored with the music as i thought most of the songs was pretty boring until i found Alice Cooper wich i loved tremendously.(Mostly his 70's period) Also listened to a bit of popular music and the residents wich i heard a live concert on tv and then just had to have

3.Period-Alice Cooper period

I first found Iron Maiden when searching for a alice cooper song called hallowed be thy name and then there turned out to be a maiden song...I did realy hate maiden at first but then someone lended me Brave New World and although i thought maiden was awfull at first i took some time to listen to the album and completly loved it. I also got a album with tool-lateralus wich i loved alot. So loving iron maiden brought me into...

4.Period-Metal period

In my search to find some similar bands to Iron Maiden i looked at bands like Metallica, megadeth, helloween, queensryche, saxon and judas priest...It was really just megadeth wich i cound love and in my ways of searching the maiden forum i found out that many did like Dream Theater wich at first i thought was a purely instrumental band...and i got the dvd Live scenes from new york and was amazed when they had a vocalist...Although i did not like em at first my interest grew quicly on them and i tried various bands like Symphony-X and stuff. Unable to find any metal band that was anywhere near the complexity of maiden i looked at Steve Harris's influences wich was bands like Nektar,King Crimson,Yes,Genesis and so on i first checked out King Crimson wich brings me into...

5.Period-Early Prog Period

My first experience with prog was when i was 6 when dad showed me some tangerine dream wich i completely loved and listened alot to. I did not know that it was called prog until 2 years ago...I have never heard about the genre until then...I had no real guide to prog so i checked out some old books about music to hear wich cd's with the bands wich was concidered the best. So i pretty much checked out Court of the crimson king, close to the edge, the snow goose and some nektar to find the brilliance hidden whitin all these bands.

6.Perioid-Only prog period

Yes then i found the progarchives and found lots of brilliant bands like Fantomas,Taal,Sigur Ros,Anglagard,Opeth,Porcupine tree and such...And is generally checking out the RIO/AVANT-GARDE and symphonic prog apartment now.

Mmmh...

I started listening to the classic British 70´s hard rock chops like Sabb, Purple, Budgie, Zepp and all those weed lovers.

Suddenly from out of nowhere, that Vangelis "Pulsar" song came to my life... in part because of the Carl Sagan´s COSMOS TV Series.

Since then, anything related to spacey-cosmic-spiritual music, become as my personal taste.

Nowdays I´ve heard any single Prog Genre and tons of Prog Albums.

Personally I feel very comfortable with early Italian Prog and the recent French Symphonic-Fussion movement.
