Hello and Merry Christmas to all fellow prog rockers!

I would like to receive your opinion on the following album:

Would you consider it a prog rock album, suitable for inclusion in progarchives.com?
If yes, in which prog category would you include it?

Not terribly progressive, but I've seen less so listed here.
Perhaps Prog Folk or Eclectic
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

I (personally) do not like to think of something as "progressive" or not. You either enjoy/love the music and take it to your heart and soul, or not.

I hope that no one thinks that this has to be considered progressive, in order for anyone, HERE to have a good listen beyond a minute or two. The piece is very nice, and worth of a listen, though trying to classify it, (FOR ME) takes away a lot of its beauty and what it does.

It is a very enjoyable piece, and my only concern is that folks here will hear more than a couple of minutes. There are a lot of very nice passages, and to my ears, this is more "classical" defined/designed than it would be "progressive", but my definition of progressive belongs in the universe with everything and all the kitchen sinks, spoons and tomatoes, and not anywhere near the silly definition found in so many so-called "progressive" websites.

Worth while having in my book, and will look into it some more!

(Secondary note!!!!!) IF, I have a comment is the structure ending up towards the end. I am of the school that says that all notes are good (just as chords and what not) and that they should start in ___ and end in ___ ... defined for me as starting in A (alphabet not note!!!), and ends somewhere beyond the Z (alphabet not note!!!) way beyond our galaxy. This way, all of us can not define anything, and it will forever be an enigma to our imaginations ... something that the best art does for all of us!

STILL, a very enjoyable listen, although it reminded me of a lot of compositions in music school way back when ... but much better than what those lostners had to offer!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Sounds like a cross between video game music and prog to me.

I'm tempted to say that if you need to ask if something is prog (or whatever), then it isn't.

But that wouldn't be very polite. Even though your music isn't to my taste, it does sound proggy to me. No idea about the subgenre but I'm not very good with them anyway.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Excellent low-budget film music, like from Deathwish or something.  Or as others have suggested, the score to a VG.

Not prog.   There isn't enough development or variation, and it's not rock.

It is. Composed note by note (using a mouse) in Cakewalk Express v.3.1 using Yamaha SYXG50 as my "orchestra" :D
