Voted Lathe of Heaven......but the 1980 version is better...follows the book better and is better acted.
The book is excellent btw.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

Hi,

It's really difficult to make a call on this ... but if there is a film that really knock you down and out, and totally leaves you ...wow ... it would be the ending of "Manon of the Spring". You go for 4 hours in 2 films ("Jean de Florette" is the first one) ... and you only know what is going on, and happened in the last 10 minutes of the 2nd film, and you really had no clue about it all.

It was an incredible moment for a pair of films by Claude Berri ...

There are others ... I keep thinking of that Australian film "A Woman's Tale" and its incredible story and performances, specially by Sheila Florence, who barely finished the film before she passed away. It is an amazing film, and for an elder performer to put it all together one more time ... it's a major wow.

I'm actually having a hard time deciding what other films I should list ... but there are many!

(Added later)
Bad Timing, A Sensual Obsession - Nicolas Roeg ... the ending is unreal.
Bedazzled - Peter Cook and Dudley Moore ... beautiful ending with George getting mad.
Performance - Nicolas Roeg and Donald Cammell ... Outstanding twist ending makes film even more difficult to figure out!
Fellini's Roma - Federico Fellini ... He probably should have other films listed here, but the ending of this one is way out there and incredible. But the opening of "Intervista" with the kid taking his pee, is worth all the mentions, and the image that you will come back to the most. C'mon ... the kid had to take a pee! I usually say Federico is that kid! AND, of course, the Church went to war again! And lost!

Luis Bunuel ... Really hard to decide which film to mention since so many of them are nuts and end up even more way out there confusing the viewer. No one bends time better than him ... check out The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" which goes through the minds of just about all characters!

Gaspar Noe ... I thought about mentioning some of his stuff since it is almost unwatchable by most folks, but it is crazy and insane in some of them. And I'm not sure anyone can bend it better than a story going backwards to the beginning!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Another series (not a movie, sorry) is The Umbrella Academy, now streaming on Netflix. Three seasons so far, with a fourth in the works. (The IMDB description doesn't hint at the time bending aspects that underlie all three seasons). If you're in the mood for some sci-fi/fantasy with just enough whimsy to keep things light and fun, check it out.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1312171/

I've just finished The Lazarus Project TV show. It has a neat premise for going back in time using check points, which adds a new model for time travel with some very interesting ideas. 8 episodes and a second season to come. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14190592/

Frequency (2000) is also quite cool, yet it doesn't fit my criterion of having less than 100K ratings on IMDb.

I've recently seen Die Tür (The Door). It is a German flick yet I watched it with English dubs. Quite good and allegorically impressive. I'd certainy have included it in this list of mine if I had watched it earlier. The allegory is more dominant here than the fantasy/sci-fi aspect though, howbeit it still fits my criterion.
