“AWAKENING (IN MEMORY OF COLIN TENCH)” IS ANDRES GUAZZELLI‘S LATEST EP IN MEMORY OF HIS LATE FRIEND AND MUSICAL COMPANION COLIN TENCH.
Colin Tench passed away of natural causes on December 27, 2017, only days after the release of his album ‘Minor Masterpiece‘, leaving his mark on all of his close friends and leaving behind an extensive musical legacy. “Awakening (in memory of Colin Tench)” dwells upon the feelings of grief, nostalgia, and finally acceptance after the loss of a loved one. The album is the culmination of a three-year-long journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance for Andres, in his life role as a musician, composer, and human being. Along with the usual Guazzelli collaborators, ‘Awakening‘ features Mr. Tench himself on acoustic and electric guitars. The unused guitar takes from ‘Wish You Could Hear‘ and ‘Wötan: The Untold Story‘ were used for the creation and new musical pieces. In addition, the album has 20 bonus tracks from 2011 to 2013, including Tench’s first guitar recordings since 1985. ‘August (A Cold Winter Morning)” is the first track of the trilogy. The single edit was released on February 3rd, 2018 and it was reworked to appear in this album. A haunting and poignant piece of music, “August” is a musical journey through the five stages of grief. The five stages, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost. Back at the time of Colin Tench's Corvus Stone album, along with Wilson's The Raven and Iamthemorning's first albums, I thought I really wished there would be a collaboration between them all. Just imagining Colin Tench on guitars, Gleb Kolyadin on piano, Marjana on vocals, Nick Beggs on bass, and don't know, Marco Minnemann or Gavin Harrison on drums. Perhaps someone else for keyboards besides the piano. I was mainly thinking about a line-up that could have rivaled with Yes at their best times, actually.

I still have in a cassette the envelope signed by Colin when he sent me the first Corvus Stone CD.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Also to mention that Colin was a friend to many at PA and took an active part in our music discussions. He was lovely guy who is sorely missed. So pleased to hear that someone is doing a tribute.
