As Autumn entrenches itself in my region of the world, I've once again began listening to Jack O' The Clock, an American avant-garde, progressive, folk rock band with a little post-rock jazz fusion sprinkled into the mix... I don't how to describe them, really. In the past, I sparingly listened to their music, but now I cannot stop! Despite the litany of labels I ascribed to them, their music is penetrable; yet, simultaneously, there's a great depth to Jack's songs--especially their longer compositions. The eclectic instrumentation, strong musical movements, well-crafted atmospheric sections, and lyrics immerse listeners into a uniquely American world whose creation is attributed to a very interesting mind. However, if I were to admit to one negative, then it would be those very same lyrics: they are often opaque! One might follow a narrative from song to song, but there will always be questions as to the origins and identifies of the involved characters. And the plots themselves might take many listens to unravel. But, as stated in the beginning of the first paragraph, great musical and lyrical depth greets the listener despite welcoming melodies, and it's well worth the plunge. What say you? Very envious! I'd love to watch them live if only to see how they handle all those instruments on stage.

I hadn't heard of them until I read this thread, then I read it, then I listened to them on Spotify.

They are a good band. They have a bit of a Tull feel to them. I ordered a number of their albums off of CD Baby before it shut down, and have order a couple of their other albums off of Band Camp.

I smiled like an idiot during "I'm Afraid of f**king the Whole Thing Up" because some of the instrumental work reminded me of Tull. This band is truly awesome.
