It had to be done...Virtuoso guitarist, brilliant bass player, and for what it is worth, I like his vocals because of his swedish pronunciation...like shylde for child as an example...

He gets the job done. And he’s a better vocalist than Pete Trewavas ha ha. I also think his brother Michael, is an outstanding bassist.

You forgot mentioning he is a great composer too. His voice are not his strong spot though, but it's more than acceptable.

I like his voice. He gets pretty close to Wetton and Lake sometimes.

Great voice but I don't like The Flower Kings. Tasty guitarist also.

Not a fan. I always find myself waiting in every song with high hopes for a second vocalist.

I love Roine's voice. And I especially love how it blends with Hasse Froberg's.
He is on the Mt. Rushmore Of Prog. No doubt.

Contraversial, four presidents? Thus who are the other three? Hackett? Howe? Emerson? Wakeman? Squire?....this could be an interesting punch up... Edited by M27Barney - May 08 2020 at 08:48 |

Mount Rushmore's a different topic, lets leave it at that. (or else we'll have to bring in Lennon et al.)
I've always been very aware of the Swedish accent because of where I come from. It does bother a lot, and I notice occasions where Roine pronounces, for instance, the G in the beginning of a word as J, as they do. He's definately not the best singer, but he makes no mistakes and isn't annoying. Considering 90 % of the prog bands on this site, that's a lot. I do kind of love how he does his own thing and goes through with it with style and confidence. And Hasse takes care of the tight parts, Roine, the soft parts. Brilliant. But really... Hasse was, what made the Flower Kings a strong band troughout. Before him, there was always some passion missing.

He's not one of my favorite singers in prog. Not even in "modern" prog. I actually prefer Neal Morse's voice or Steven Wilson's. That said, I don't have any major problems with his voice either. I just think there are better singers.

His vocals are great! And work especially well when accompanied by Hasse Froberg's.
