I got the Link fixed now. This is a better French GG than Et Cetera
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

You're probably like me. There's a lot of prog bands I struggled to get into at first glance. But I force myself to listen to song after song, and usually I end up liking the band.

Except Marillion...

I don't know why I can't gel with them, but it's not for a lack of trying/

Me too. Marillion and IQ just aren't for me.

I won't force myself to listen to music over and over to convince myself that I like it. Usually my initial reaction to the music is accurate.

The word 'accurate' is interesting in this context. It suggests that there is a right or wrong music to listen to. My initial reaction to hearing Gentle Giant for the first time was 'what the f**k?!' . I gradually got over that first incredulous feeling about them and eventually gradually gained an appreciation. Also my initial reaction to Porcupine Tree was what sort of 'non prog' is this and Steven Wilson must be an a-hole thinking he is the future of prog. 15 years later I now love much of what he has done even if he is still an a-hole Wink

Love a little IQ, but Marillion leaves me flat no matter how many times I give them a try.
