Wire, though post-punk, seem to encapsulate all the qualities of progressive rock, if not "prog" which is more specific to my mind and traditionally associated with pomp and classical rock.

Ideal creator Graham Duff and I are developing an independent film about them, and thought folk here might fancy getting involved.

If we can crowdfund this film, we can do it exactly as we want without compromise. Take a look and listen!

I love Wire. Yeah many early post-punk pioneers borrowed a lot from Krautrock, Van Der Graaf Generator and Hawkwind. While i wouldn't go as far as calling them prog, they certainly displayed prog influences. Thanks the scoop!

Such a consistently terrific band. One of the most creative forces to emerge from the punk movement. Constantly inventive. Right there alongside the likes of Cardiacs in terms of merging punk energy and progressive musical attitude.
The damage that we do is just so powerfully strong we call it love

The damage that we do just goes on and on and on but not long enough.

In 1979, heard on a sampler On Returning from Wire's third album 154 and was immediately impressed by it.

We have Bruce Gilbert here in the PE listings, quiet progressive and still punk!

As I recall, Colin Newman’s A-Z album wasn’t bad either.
