Topic: Your prog band Posted: September 20 2005 at 19:46 |
I just had a idea.
Prog archives makes a local band section in the genre part where people can put mp3 and stuff on there and get their band a little bit of publicity and people can go and check it out.
dose anyone second this?

Yeah that would be a hell of an idea. Even if it doesnt happen ill send whoever wants to hear samples from my project. It is a bit strange, but likeable all the same

Sounds interesting. Would always be willing to check out new talent if
it were there. Trouble is, the site could get buried under a ton of
submissions. I've noticed that a lot of Prog web sites which review
music from bands and solo artists only accept true CD's not CD-Rs or
MP3. I guess that's their way of filtering out the wannabes from the
should be's.
I suppose there is a gap in the market for a dedicated website for
reviewing and promoting new prog musicians like a sort of on-line open
mike spot with votes for the best submissions. I've seen it done with
other forms of music and has proved to be quite sucessful for some of
the artists involved.

I think this is a good idea, not to be posted to be reviewed by professional critics, but to share with other people on the site.

I've already seen this done by a few people. It would be better to load it onto your own site and just add a link here, that would stop the site being buried in MP3s.

I'd love to hear material from underground prog bands! An interesting idea you had there, friend.

Yea, have a section with links to peoples sites so we can see the band, but not overload the site.

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

I think it's a great idea, but there's already a forum in which artists can discuss their work and post mp3s.
